Tiramisu for you and me!

"Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert. Ladyfinger cookies are dipped in coffee, then layered with mascarpone (a rich Italian cream cheese) and dusted with cocoa powder. It might become your new favorite dessert!"

Boy oh boy, did we stuff ourselves with this yummy-licious heavenly dessert over the little 'celebration' at our favourite Italian restaurant last week or what!? It melts in your mouth, and the chef does it so well that you get a tinge of coffee and liqueur permeating the lady fingers over soft creamy cheese, with stick-to-your-tongue rich cocoa powder topping! It was an ultimate balance of creamy & cakey, wet & dry!

This was one unforgetable indulging moment for kopi and koko, tasting de coffee-cocoa dessert. ;)

Say, if you wish to try it out, give us a ring and we'll come along!
Did I mention that though we were on meat fast, we had an incredible Italian meal of pizza vegetali & mushroom-spinach ravioli? (Don't get me started on describing the main courses! And you know I dont usually go gaga describing food on blog posts!) Yeaps, the chef's that good~

Across the Universe (2007)

Something in the way she moves. Attracts me like no other lover, Something in the way she woos me. I don’t want to leave her now, You know I believe and how. Somewhere in her smile she knows That I don’t need no other lover. Something in her style that shows me. I don’t want to leave her now, You know I believe and how. You’re asking me will my love grow, I don’t know, I don’t know. You stick around now it may show, I don’t know, I don’t know. Something in the way she knows And all I have to do is think of her, Something in the things she shows me. I don’t want to leave her now, You know I believe and how. - The Beatles

Across the Universe (2007) – 4/5 (cliché plot, nice use of music)

A dock worker Jude travels to America in the 1960s to find his estranged father. There he falls in love with sheltered American teenager Lucy. When her brother Max is drafted to fight in the Vietnam War, they become involved in peace activism. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time. The film title and main characters are named after various songs of it too. There is a girl named Prudence! :)

My favourite part is the end where Lucy, not knowing Jude is back, is invited by Max to come to the concert, sees the logo Jude designed for Sadie, gets very sad and decides at the door that she can't join them, and walks on. The police break up the concert as the crowd gathering gets larger. Jude hides from the police, and after being left alone on the roof, starts singing "All You Need Is Love" into the microphone. Sadie, JoJo, Prudence, Max, and the rest all rush back up to the roof, and join in. Lucy hears Jude's voice, and frantically rushes to get into the building, only to be stopped by the police. She turns, and runs to a building across the street, and stares at Jude from the roof across the way. She smiles as a tear runs down her cheek. Jude sighs. -J

Cocoa overdose

I'm attending core processor architecture all week. I have to psycho and motivate myself constantly in order to keep my spirits up, else agitation and restlessness get a grib of me, and my ugly side unleashes.

Computer architecture is my least favourite subjects since uni (Check this irony out - Kopi was a comp major, I was a tele. He's now with the Yellow Man, I'm in Intel); but since I am working in this company, I'm "required" to have minimal understanding of how it works to get my job (though electrical based) going.

Nonetheless, there's of course the silver linings (just look beyond the dark clouds).... I get a cuppa (sometimes 2) hot yummy cocoa every day from the Intel U cafe. :) *no biggie at all, but this makes me happy & I need all the happiness I can find to stay sane & awake in class! But what gives me more joy is Kopi dropping me off at 8.30am and picking me up at 5pm all week. :D I am enjoying the "settled" feeling. On a weird side though, we get to have rushing lunches together too... (never really got to experience that before) so it's kinda nice to be in each other's busy-ness for a bit. =)

Come to think of it, computer architeture classes come with lots of perks, not too bad eh? ;)

101 ways to win a girl's heart (Idea #1)

Memorize one of Shakespeare's love sonnets and recite it to your partner when you are in a romantic setting like a botanical garden. Don't just suddenly start reciting poetry as this will just sound corny.

While you are cuddling your partner, ask in a joking manner, "So is now a good time to recite a love poem to you?" She will probably say yes, expecting you to come up with something of the "Roses are Red..." variety.

Instead, look into her eyes, smile and recite the sonnet while you gently stroke her face. Try the sonnet below. If this is too long, just memorize the first four lines and the last two.

Shakespeare Love Sonnet 18
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed.
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest,
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Now if you do get the girl after this, do remember to drop me a line here :) - J
