i love my job

I love my job, I love the pay!
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss, she is the best!
I love her boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location,
I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
And piles of paper that grow each day!
I think my job is really swell,
There's nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers,
I love their leers, and jeers, and sneers.
I love my computer and its software;
I hug it often though it won't care.
I love each program and every file.
I'd love them more if they worked a while.
I'm happy to be here. I am. I am.
I'm the happiest slave of the Firm, I am.
I love this work, I love these chores.
I love the meetings with deadly bores.
I love my job - I'll say it again -
I even love those friendly men.
Those friendly men who've come today,
In clean white coats to take me away!

One of the most difficult pieces of writing I had to do this week was my resume. I'm not totally satisfied with it. But I've submitted it, and it's done. Now we just wait.

What is a resume? It's really your press release, where you are marketing yourself to potential buyers (employers). My problem is: I'm the sort of person who hates having to explain myself. That makes it difficult in situations where elaboration is necessary - like writing a story.

I hate writing stories. I can’t write well. I can’t paint pictures with all the blooming daffodils and bright sunny sunflowers. I realized I do better with dark and gloomy. Recently, Koko commented and made me realized that most of my favorite songs are mostly emo. You guys must listen to Coffee And Cigarettes by Michelle Featherstone. Alsolutely superb.

I am looking forward to the Zhong making therapeutic sessions this weekend. Koko will be back to Kay El this weekend and she will be with Grandma making Zhongs. A lot of yum yum porky pork for Mr. Pork. Sigh, dreaming about coffee & pork. - J

101 Romantic Ideas (Idea #2)

Take a book that your partner is reading and using a pencil, underline letters in a section of the book she has yet to read to spell out a love letter. For example in the following exert from a novel, the underlined letters come together to spell out the secret message "I love you".

The palace was a labyrinth, their passage through it tortuous and interminable. Initially they passed from building to building under the sodden sky. Steve's feet ached; he might have laughed at himself, the tireless traveler, grown too soft from his months in the city to walk any proper distance. Abruptly the guards halted.

The underlined letters will make your partner curious and with a bit of luck she will write them down. Spend time to encode a proper message such as "Dear Belinda, I love you honey" - J

Home sweet home

Our house is done. Looking back before we gotten the house, it is really a gift that we did not deserved. Papa was loving and gracious to us.

I am just going to say this publicly, thank you Bob and your family for making this possible. Your help was too much to count and invaluable to both of us. Also thanks to our favourite contractor; Lye and your gang, our assemblers; Kuong Lim, Alan, Sharon for your superb assembling skills.
Thanks, Alex Levin for being the first to grace our home. (and not a single complaint at all!)

I am going to post up more pictures soon once I bring my camera over.

On-the-run

I miss playing tennis. I miss having my shirt being drench with sweat, wind blasting against my face, all eyes on the green ball, winding up for a winner down the line with a big forehand, on the run, stepping up and crushing the ball with an incredible force that is unforgiving.

Call me a tennis freak but I find tennis exhilarating yet soothing. The sound of feet pounding the court, the sound of tennis balls being strike perfectly, balls being rallied, taps and rapped. What a beautiful way to spend an evening.

Sigh, how I wished that I could built my home on a tennis court.

Tennis Tip of the Day: The best way to practice your big forehand is to stand in the center of the court and have a practice partner feed a series of soft floating balls to your backhand side. Move into position and rip the ball inside-out or down the line. - J
